Never one for leaving questions unanswered and mysteries unsolved, I couldn’t resist having another search and found a detailed article relating to ‘An Unusual Sandwich‘ which was printed a few days earlier in The West Australian.
As it turns out, though there was slight impatience on the driver’s part to get around the tram, there was no mistaken assumption that he’d fit between the two trams. It really was just a simple accident coupled with incredibly bad timing.
